Bkk July 2010: Day 1
Yoowhoo! I'm so excited to blog about bkk, lol.
So after returning from Genting Highlands,
i flew to Bkk the very next morning.
It was a "business" trip for boyf and his band from Yours Truly,
They were hired to BKK for a wedding gig.
So the flight and all were fully sponsored for him,
how awesome is that!
Mad envious, but since boyf's gig is only for 1 night,
so i booked an airticket to tag along for a shopping trip!
I booked the flight from Tiger Airways departing from Budget Terminal
this time round, cos tigerair was the cheapest as compared
to other budget airlines cos my booking
was made really really last minute!
So we arrived at the Budget Terminal,
i didn't know what to expect, but it was pretty ok!
Simple check-in counters, same duty-free shops as terminal 1 etc..
We had brunch @ Secret Recipe after we checked in!
Ahhhh, it's finally time to board the plane!
Beautiful sunny daaaaaay~
I know alot of you must be like..
hmmm something's different about fidelis
but you just can't quite pin point what is it!!!
People keep asking me if i changed my makeup style etc..
But nope.. i really just dyed my hair BLACK!
It's just last week when i finally thought to myself,
" damn! this milk tea brown hair colour
is really too troublesome to maintain, "
i often have to touch up the black roots etc.
So i decided to dye my hair black and save myself from all the trouble!!!
Hehehe, the anniversary pressie boyf got me last year.
I'm sooooo happy i got to go for this trip,
I know the last time i went to bkk, i complained non-stop
how awful and scam-my the people in bkk is and how i got ripped off etc..
But i guess i was more street smart and have better bargaining skills now
and it turned out to be AWESOMEEEEEE!
I could understand why people love it there so much now,
i didn't want to come home!
this trip was almost-fully sponsered by my grandma + mummy
as my 20th birthday present!
I only paid for my air ticket, lol.

If i have a navy blue luggage like everyone else
i think i'll never spot my luggage.

Boarded a cab at headed to the hotel we're staying at for that 4 days!
Previously we were staying at pratunam,
stayed at Sukhumvit area this time round!
Love my shades, bought them on ebay just afew days
before the trip and luckily it arrived in time! (:
Oh yes, i always print out the exchange rate cheatsheet
everytime i'm on such "shopping-trips"
It really makes life simpler,
but boyf is really my "walking-calculator" so i didnt need it this time!

Lol, the taxi's there are SO cute,
Like majiam race-car got spoiler & bodykits etc.
Oh, one tip about the taxi's, try to take the pink taxis
I guess they are from a more controlled a company or sth,
but we find them much better, like they don't try to give you
some funny business like not switching on metre,
quoting you ridiculous amount to get to another place.
If they try quote prices with you, i'll normally just walk off
and hire another cab or if there's no other cabs in sight,
we'll bargain with him for a better rate.
But sometimes it's just better to quote them like 100baht
and they won't try to go the long way
so they get more on the meter, save more time really.
Lol, it's so interesting you get to see these graffiti all over the place.
We were staying at Grand Inn Hotel @ Sukhumvit
I booked via Asiatravel.com and it was only $60/night.
Really cheap! It's really just a small hotel,
but very accessible and EXCELLENT service from the staff.
The staff are really really sweet and it made our stay there SO comfortable!
After settling down, we rushed over to Plaza Athenee to meet the rest
of the band and went to Chatukchat weekend market to shop,
i had only 2 hours there because the place closes at 6pm..
Didn't get to see the pets section the last time i went there,
cos my bag got slashed and they stole my wallet that time s
i didn't have the mood to carrying on shopping anymore..
Be careful when you're there! This didn't i didnt bring a bag
haha, got boyf to carry my money pouch in his bermudas
(have deep pockets, so hard for them to pick pocket too!)
but this time i did!
OMG! we were just totally MELTING looking at the puppies.
GOODNESS GRACIOUSSSSS!!! Not only me, the guys too alright!

Lol, then i was really busy shopping, no time to take photos!
we spotted Jack Sparrow!!! Hahahah

Lol, after shopping for afew hours we were pretty tired,
and it was getting PRETTY HOOOOOT
plus my period decided to come on the 1st day of my vacation.
TMD SWAY LAH!
Here's my shopping buys from chatukchat!
Super good buuuuuuys~
Wore the shorts i bought from chatukchat,
and the top i bought from chatukchat last year.. lol.
Went back to the hotel and chill out for afew hours,
and went out for dinner near our hotel!
Found this indian restaurant just afew steps from our hotel
..turns out we're staying on bkk's arab street,
so the place is filllllled with mediterranean food etc!
Had indian food, yums!
here's what we ordered:
Butter Chicken, DAMN GOOD PLEASE!
Butter + Cheese naan,
the cheese naan was really delicious, ordered two servings of that!
Mutton masala, so-so but still good!
tried the herbs that claims to clear the heavy scent from the indian cuisine!
...taste like Ricola candy!
Bill came up to a total of $30 only!
So cheeeeeeap. ahhhhh.
After that we took a tuk tuk to Suan Lum Night Market,
as usual.. have to bargain bargain with them for the right price!
Lol, it was so fun! The tuk tuk driver was like mad cocky
and cut infront of the other tuk tuks. lol

boyf and i bought one each. Totally worth the $$$
